Umberto Pignataro, age 46, of Bridgeport, waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty in federal court in Bridgeport Tuesday, Aug. 9. Prosecutors said Pignataro stole hundreds of pieces of mail between December 2020 and May 2021, while working as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service in Norwalk. Albany native Max Drabkin passed away Wednesday, July 27, according to his obituary. A cause of death was not listed. A 2012 graduate of Albany High School, Drabkin went on to earn an economics degree from McGill University in Montreal in 2016, his memorial said. Mosquitoes With West Nile Virus Found In Rye For the first time this year, mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus have been confirmed in Westchester by state health officials. The county's health department announced Wednesday, Aug. 10, that the virus was identified through testing done on a batch of mosquitoes in Rye. The area surrounding the positive mosquito batches are being inspected and catch basins that need it are being treated in order to prevent further mosquito breeding, the department said.
