Member Of Family That Founded Stewart's Shops Drowns In Capital District Lake The family that founded Stewart’s Shops convenience stores and gas stations is mourning the loss of a man who drowned in a Capital District lake. Perrin Dake, of Boulder, Colorado, died Sunday, Aug. 7, at Friends Lake in Warren County, located in the Town of Chester, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office confirmed. Rescue crews were called just after 2 p.m. with reports of a male swimmer in distress who had since gone below the surface near Atateka Drive. Hudson Valley Man Busted Driving Drunk Twice In 2 Hours, Police Say A Hudson Valley resident was stopped for suspected drunk driving not once, but twice in a span of just two hours, authorities said. Troopers in Ulster County stopped Edwin Mendez, age 29, of New Paltz, at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, July 31, as he drove on Southside Avenue in New Paltz. Troopers had noticed the man’s 2013 Audi S4 violating several vehicle and traffic laws, according to New York State Police. That’s the message from the New York State Department of Agriculture, which is warning about an invasive insect known as the spotted lanternfly. Native to Asia, the pink and gray dotted bugs were first spotted in Pennsylvania in 2014 and have been spreading across the Northeast ever since. Fairfield County resident Katherine Hagendorf, of Danbury, died Monday, Aug. 1, at the age of 49, according to her obituary. A cause of death was not listed. Man Assaults Employee At Capital District Horse-Riding Business, Police Say A man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting an employee at a horseback-riding business in the region. The incident happened In Rensselaer County at One Trick Pony Rides, located in Pittstown, New York State Police said. Police Looking For Bank Robbery Suspect In Western Mass Police are on the hunt for a man who robbed a Western Massachusetts bank. In Berkshire County, police were called just before 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, with reports of a bank robbery in Pittsfield at the Greylock Federal Credit Union, located on Kellogg Street. Employees told police a man had passed a note to the teller demanding money. He was not armed at the time, according to Pittsfield Police. Police Issue Alert For Missing Teen From Yorktown Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 15-year-old boy from the region who was reported missing. Northern Westchester resident Kristan “John John” Lee, of Yorktown, was announced missing Sunday, Aug. 7, by Yorktown Police. It’s believed that Lee took an Uber to Port Chester before boarding a train to Norwalk, Connecticut, police said. Man Stabs Roommate During Altercation In Capital District, Police Say A 40-year-old Capital District man is hospitalized with serious injuries after police said he was stabbed by his roommate. Albany Police officers were called at around 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, with reports of a stabbing near Second and Alden avenues.
