Mom Nabbed For DWI Leandra's Law After Crash On NY Thruway In Hudson Valley, Police Say A mother from the region is facing charges after allegedly driving drunk and crashing on the New York Thruway with her two young children in the car, state police said. Troopers in Orange County were called at around 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, with reports of a single car crash with property damage on I-87 in the town of Newburgh. Man Sentenced For Operating CT Drug Mill A Connecticut man will spend more than a decade in federal prison after he admitted to running a drug mill out of his apartment. Hartford County resident Luis Ciuro, age 37, of East Hartford, was sentenced to 15 years behind bars Wednesday, Aug. 10, in federal court in Bridgeport. It follows his November 2020 guilty plea to one count of possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl. Daytime Closures Scheduled On Taconic State Parkway In Region Be ready for possible travel delays on the Taconic State Parkway in the coming days. Road crews in Columbia County will be closing both directions of the parkway between Chatham and Claverack beginning Tuesday, Aug. 16, the NY State Department of Transportation said. Police Investigating Abuse Of 'Severely Injured' Puppy Found In Capital District A 10-to-14-week-old puppy is recovering after police in the Capital District found her suffering from severe abuse, authorities said. Schenectady Police were called Tuesday, Aug. 9, and found the animal severely injured and unable to stand on her own. Animal Control officers removed the dog and brought her to the emergency vet, where she received critical, lifesaving treatment, police said. NY Health Commissioner Orders All Pharmacies To Carry Overdose Medication Naloxone Pharmacies in New York will soon be required to carry and dispense naloxone, the medicine used to quickly reverse the life-threatening effects of an opioid overdose. Man Accused Of Fatally Stabbing Roommate During Altercation In Capital District A man is behind bars after an altercation between roommates ended with a man being stabbed to death in the Capital District, according to police. Albany Police were called just after 1 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, with reports of a stabbing at a home near Clinton Street and Third Avenue. In Orange County, officers with the Town of Crawford Police Department were first informed on Tuesday, Aug. 9 that a man with three separate arrest warrants out of Arizona was staying at a home in Crawford. Trio Indicted For Murder Of Hudson Valley Teen Set To Start Senior Year In High School A grand jury has indicted three Hudson Valley men in the fatal shooting of a beloved 17-year-old high school student. Rockland County resident Treynahel Cineus, age 17, of Spring Valley, was found shot to death at around 2:30 a.m. on July 8, in a parking lot on West Eckerson Road.
