Capital Region Man Accused Of Forcibly Touching Children 'Multiple Times,' Police Say A man from the Capital Region is behind bars, accused of sexually abusing multiple children. Montgomery County resident Tyler Frolke, age 22, of Amsterdam, was arrested Thursday, Sept. 15, following an investigation by New York State Police. Troopers first began looking into Frolke’s alleged behavior in late August 2022 when they received a complaint that he had inappropriate physical contact with a 13-year-old victim, police said. US Settles With 4 Parties For Release Of Mercury In Village Of Rye Brook Four companies will pay out nearly half a million dollars to the federal government for their role in contaminating a Westchester County neighborhood with thousands of pounds of toxic mercury. As part of a consent decree settling a civil lawsuit filed Tuesday, Sept. 13, in federal court in White Plains, the four companies admitted to delivering mercury to Port Refinery, a mercury refining business in the Village of Rye Brook. Woman Driving Drunk Charged After Wrong-Way Crash In Capital District, Police Say A Western Massachusetts woman is facing charges after allegedly driving drunk and causing a head-on crash that injured two others in New York’s capital city. The crash happened Friday, Aug. 26, on I-90 in Albany. New York State Police determined that Isabella Wasuk, age 22, of Pittsfield in Berkshire County, was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes when she struck another vehicle head on. NY Judge Named ‘Special Master’ In DOJ Probe Of Trump’s Handling Of Classified Docs A veteran New York judge from Long Island will be tasked with reviewing documents that were seized by the FBI from former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Published Author ID'd As Victim In Fatal Hit, Run Crash In Capital District A woman who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in the region has been identified as a published author. Police in Albany were called at around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, with reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a car on Clinton Avenue near North Swan Street. Investigators said the victim, 31-year-old Tanisha Brathwaite, of Albany, was pronounced dead at the scene. Ex-Employee Accused Of Robbing Ex-Boss At Gunpoint At Restaurant In Capital District An ex-employee at a restaurant in the region is behind bars, accused of robbing his former boss at gunpoint. Police in Columbia County were called at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, with reports of an armed robbery at a restaurant in Hudson, located on Warren Street. Husband, Wife Killed In Head-On Route 9W Crash Between Pickup Truck, Minivan A husband and wife died together after their car was struck in a head-on crash in the region, authorities said. The Greene County incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, on State Route 9W in the town of New Baltimore, near State Route 144. Man Tried To Rob People Outside State Capitol, Police Say A man from the region is facing charges after he allegedly tried robbing people near the state Capitol. State police in Albany were called just before 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, with a report that a man with a knife was demanding money from people on Madison Avenue, outside of the Empire State Plaza. Aspiring Politician From Upstate NY Dies At Age 23 As a 22-year-old, Alejandro “Alex” Foppoli moved to South Carolina from New York and attempted to unseat a three-term incumbent in the state’s House of Representatives. Though he lost in the primary election, Foppoli’s family said he more than proved his political chops, earning the endorsements of several local and national political groups along the way.
