Drunk Driver Ends Up On Front Lawn Of Hudson Valley Home, Police Say A 31-year-old man’s blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit to drive when he got behind the wheel of a car and crashed into a home in the region, authorities said. Emergency crews in Ulster County were called shortly before 1 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, with reports of a car crash at a home in Saugerties, located on Highway 212. Overturned Milk Tanker Closes Capital Region Highway A Capital Region highway remained shut down in both directions Monday afternoon, Sept. 19, due to an overturned milk tanker, authorities said. Multiple fire and rescue agencies in Rensselaer County responded to reports of a rolled tractor trailer on Highway 346 southeast of Hoosick, near the Vermont state line. Man Points Loaded Gun At 2 Women Inside Home In Capital Region, Police Say A man is facing charges after allegedly pointing a loaded handgun at two women during an altercation at a home in the region. Albany police responded to an apartment complex near Park Avenue and Quail Street at around noon on Sunday, Sept. 18, after getting reports of a man inside with a gun. Westchester Man Among 5 Nabbed After Traffic Stop Turns Up Stolen Debit Cards, Forged Checks What began as a traffic stop in the region ended with five people behind bars on numerous weapons and stolen property charges, authorities said. State police in Orange County first spotted the suspects’ vehicle at around 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, as it drove on Highway 84 in the town of Newburgh. 49-Year-Old Charged With Rape After Joint Investigation In Region A 49-year-old man from the region is behind bars, accused of rape. Sullivan County resident Hummler Colas, of the town of Thompson, was arrested following a joint investigation by New York State Police and Sullivan County Child Protective Services. Police did not specify the age of the alleged victim or the relationship between the two. Brand-New Poll Reveals Shift In NYers' Consumer Sentiment New Yorkers are feeling more optimistic about the economy, according to a new Siena College poll released Wednesday, Sept. 14. The New York State Index of Consumer Sentiment was up 9.1 points to 70.8 in the third quarter of 2022, the poll found. That’s 12.6 points above the nation’s Index of 58.2. The current index rose nearly 12 points from the previous quarter to 64.1 and the future index increased nearly eight points from 67.6 to 75.2, researchers found.
