Sinkhole Shuts Down Busy Road In Westchester (Developing) A sinkhole has forced the closure of a busy stretch of roadway in Westchester County, police said. The southbound lanes of Central Park Avenue in Yonkers are closed between Yonkers Avenue and Boone Street because of a sinkhole stretching across the travel lanes, Yonkers Police said at around 1:07 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29.  Police are asking drivers to avoid the area and expect congestion on surrounding roads while the closure remains in place.  Police did not say what caused the sinkhole, how large it is, or when the roadway is expected to reopen.
