Gov. Hochul Responds After Vandals Leave Racist Graffiti At Elementary School In Capital Region Cleanup is underway at an elementary school in the region after vandals left behind racist graffiti and broken windows. The damage happened at Forts Ferry Elementary, part of the North Colonie Central School District in Albany County, sometime over the weekend of Saturday, Oct. 29, Superintendent Joseph Corr said in a statement to parents. In addition to the smashed windows, the vandals wrote racial slurs and drew “deplorable images” on the building’s exterior, Corr said. 73-Year-Old Struck, Killed Crossing Long Island Street A 73-year-old man has died after being hit by a car while crossing a Long Island street. The crash happened at around 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, on Hempstead Turnpike in Farmingdale. Nassau County Police said the man was crossing the street just east of West Gate when he was struck by a 2014 Ford pickup truck. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. His name has not yet been released. Road crews will be conducting full overnight closures of the eastbound Northern State Parkway in the Town of Huntington beginning Tuesday, Nov 1., according to the Department of Transportation. Long Island resident Borndivine Intelligence Jackson, age 26, of Bellport, was formally indicted on weapons charges Friday, Oct. 28, in Suffolk County Court.
