Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

Seen HIM? Garfield Man Missing More Than Two Months Authorities renewed a public plea for help finding a Garfield man who’s been missing for more than two months. Leon Gathers, 42, was last seen leaving his home near the corner of Harrison Avenue and Williams Street on Feb. 16, Police Capt. Mario Pozo said. Moonachie Resident, 69, Hospitalized With Burns After Mobile Home Mishap A Moonachie resident on home oxygen was hospitalized with severe flash burns on her face and hair following a mishap at her mobile home. The 69-year-old victim was taken by the Moonachie First Aid & Rescue Squad to Hackensack University Medical Center from the Vanguard mobile homes off Moonachie Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 17, Police Lt. Out-Of-State Route 287 Driver Found With Gun, Large Mag: Oakland PD An Oakland police officer found an out-of-state driver carrying a handgun with a high-capacity magazine during a Route 287 stop, authorities said. Opponents In Paterson Shootout Captured After One Is Wounded: Authorities Two Paterson men who exchanged gunfire on one of the city’s deadliest corners were captured along with a third man who authorities said was involved in the shootout. Dhey Alcantara, 24, fired at Jesus Santana, 30, and missed at the intersection of Park Avenue and Carroll Street shortly after 7:30 a.m. April 8, authorities said. Heroes: Unconscious Worker Rescued From Roof Of Saddle Brook Building First responders in Saddle Brook teamed up to rescue a wireless communication company employee who passed out on the roof of the new township municipal complex.
