Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

Sedan Slams Into Fair Lawn Church A driver escaped serious injury when his sedan plowed into the front steps of a Fair Lawn church. Rapper Lil Tjay Busted On Gun Charges From Night He Was Shot At Edgewater Restaurant Rapper Lil Tjay, who was shot and critically wounded outside an Edgewater restaurant last summer, was arrested on gun charges stemming from that incident after returning this week from a world tour. The 22-year-old Bronx rapper, born Tione Jayden Merritt, had three handguns hidden in his car when he and a companion were shot during what authorities said was a botched robbery on June 22, 2023. Words Are Passed, Shotgun Blast Kills Paterson Man, 34, At Smoke Shop UPDATE (May 11): An ex-con killed a fellow Paterson resident with a shotgun blast to the chest during a dispute at his city smoke shop last weekend, authorities revealed Thursday. Update: Irate Resident Tries To Run Down Police: Wyckoff PD An irate 69-year-old Wyckoff resident tried to run down a trio of police officers after threatening them with a screwdriver, authorities said. It took two days, but borough police tracked down and arrested Vincent Hartung in Paterson, Lt. Joseph Soto said. Man Dead In Motorcycle Crash Outside Fair Lawn Restaurant A man was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday night outside a popular Fair Lawn restaurant. Responders said the victim apparently was at the Craftsman when he opted for a quick ride on his friend's motorcycle and somehow ended up on the wrong side of the road around 9 p.m. May 5. Front Loader Tips, Lands On Driver In Bogota A construction worker escaped serious injury when a front loader tipped and landed on top of him in Bogota. The worker was clearing property on the former site of the Bogota Golf Center on Cross Street when the machine fell down an embankment shortly after 3 p.m. Friday, May 5, Police Sgt. Geoffrey Cole said. Police, firefighters and members of the Bogota Rescue Squad responded along with BLS and ALS units from Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, the sergeant said. Pedo 'Uncle' Again Found Guilty Of Sexually Assaulting Three Clifton Girls, 11 To 14 UPDATE: UPDATE: A man whose conviction for sexually assaulting three young girls from Clifton was overturned by a higher court got a new trial -- and the same result. Girl, 16, Sexually Assaulted By Treatment Center Driver Hides In Rt 17 Dunkin Donuts: PD A driver for a local teen treatment facility sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl before she locked herself in a Dunkin' Donuts bathroom on Route 17 and got help, authorities said.
