Fortunately, the child had a guardian angel -- Mike Stallone, a special law enforcement officer with the Park Ridge Police Department who'd just been assigned to West Ridge Elementary School. Stallone rushed forward and scooped up the youngster before she could be crushed between two vehicles, Capt. Joseph Rampolla said. A surveillance camera captured the moment (click below). It’s Over: Burglars Who Stole $1M In World Series Rings, More From Berra Museum Busted By Feds The local cops suspected it was an inside job, but federal authorities on Thursday said otherwise. It seems the burglars who broke into the Yogi Berra Museum at Montclair State University nearly a decade ago and stole several of his World Series rings, two of his MVP plaques and the glove the Yankee legend used to catch Don Larsen’s perfect game were actually part of a multi-state ring. Eight people in all were charged with a series of heists of priceless artwork and one-of-a-kind sports memorabilia from museums and cultural centers in several states and Washington, D.C. from 1999 through …

Lodi Firefighter Gets Life-Saving Kidney From Fellow Responder's Fiancée Volunteer Lodi Firefighter Anthony Maiolo has spent half his life saving others. So when it came time to rescue the former chief, Nancy Scaramuzzo didn't think twice. It was others who began seeking a kidney for Maiolo, 49, a year or so ago. That's because Maiolo, who'd been diagnosed with end-stage renal disease, isn't the type to ask for help. A leg had to be amputated below the knee four years ago after diabetes infected his foot, yet Maiolo has continued to serve his community at Lodi Fire Company 1 -- including responding to calls -- while getting four-hour dialysis treatments three…

The alleged victim, who's now an adult, told them that the alleged assaults occurred in June 2012, records show. There is no statute of limitations for sexual assault in New Jersey. Saca was arrested on Wednesday, June…

Raising A Stink: Trash Mountain Burns In Middle Of Cliffside Park Intersection The thing with garbage fires is that you never know what might be inside. Cliffside Park firefighters hit an overnight garbage truck fire from all sides -- including from above -- before dawn Thursday. There were no causes for concern nor any injuries in the mishap, which left a huge pile of smoldering trash in the middle of the intersection at Anderson and Columbia avenues after igniting at 1:10 a.m. June 15. Firefighters used an aerial ladder while also drenching the flames with hand lines from the street.  A massive cleanup kept borough DPW workers with front loaders busy through the …
