Angry Rider Pulls Gun On Uber Driver At Capital Region Hotel, Police Say A dispute between an Uber driver and a passenger ended with the customer pulling a gun on the driver at a hotel in the region, authorities said. Teacher Sent 'Sexually Suggestive' Messages To Minor, Police In Region Say A high school teacher in the region is facing charges after allegedly sending sexually suggestive messages to a minor, authorities said. Rensselaer County resident Peter Bertram, age 43, of the Village of Nassau, was arrested Tuesday, Jan. 17, following an investigation by State Police. Investigators determined that Bertram, who teaches at Averill Park High School in Rensselaer, sent “indecent and sexually suggestive” images and text messages to a child under the age of 17. 3 Kids Found In Car Of Drugged Driver In Capital Region, Police Say A 29-year-old man from the region is facing charges after allegedly driving high on drugs with children in the car, authorities said. Albany County resident Michael Smith, of Cohoes, was arrested following a traffic stop in Watervliet late Monday night, Jan. 9, according to Watervliet Police. Here's How Much Mobile Sports Betting Has Generated For NY In 1st Year, Where It's Going New York State has raked in some serious cash since mobile sports betting was legalized one year ago. In all, the Empire State has collected more than $709.2 million in tax revenue on such betting, the highest in the nation, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office. Another $200 million was collected from licensing fees. That revenue came from the more than $16 billion that was wagered on sports since betting was first allowed in January 2022.
