Heat Wave: Con Edison Urges 89K Westchester, Bronx Customers To Conserve Power
Amid a sweltering triple-digit heat wave, Con Edison is urging nearly 89,000 customers in parts of southern Westchester County and the Bronx to conserve electricity while crews repair equipment.
The request was issued on Thursday, July 2, after the utility reduced voltage by 8 percent in portions of Yonkers, Pelham, Mount Vernon, Bronxville, Eastchester, New Rochelle, the Town of Mamaroneck, the northeast Bronx, and City Island to protect electrical equipment and maintain service while repairs are underway.
