Car Catches Fire On Taconic State Parkway In Westchester A vehicle caught fire on the Taconic State Parkway in Northern Westchester, sending smoke up into the air.  The fire broke out on the northbound side of the parkway near Route 202 in Yorktown around 7:03 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department.  Firefighters found the burning vehicle just before the entrance to Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park. Crews stretched a hose line and quickly put out the flames without incident, the department said.  No injuries were reported by the fire department.

Car Bursts Into Flames On Saw Mill River Parkway A car fire temporarily shut down lanes of the Saw Mill River Parkway in Westchester County.  The fire broke out at around 2:30 p.m. on the northbound side of the parkway in Ardsley on Monday, Aug. 31, according to the Irvington Volunteer Fire Department.   When Irvington fire crews arrived, Westchester County Police shut down the northbound lanes so crews could safely battle the blaze, the department said.  Firefighters extinguished the blaze. The department did not report any injuries.  The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
