Ghost Gun Builder Busted With Six Illegal Weapons On Long Island: Police
A Long Island man building ghost guns in his home was caught red-headed with six of the illegal weapons, police said.
Ronald Benini, 49, of Mastic Beach, was indicted Thursday, July 23 on two dozen weapons counts, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
From April to July, Benini manufactured 3D-printed weapons with no serial numbers inside his home, until cops raided it on Thursday, July 2, according to prosecutors.

A teen driver with a fake license was arrested on Long Island on Wednesday, July 22 after nearly crashing several times, police said.
Wilmer Reyes Martinez, 19, of Sag Harbor, was driving a 2015 Nissan SUV eastbound on Montauk Highway in Water Mill around 7:15 p.m., weaving in and out of traffic at high speeds, the Southampton Town Police Department said.
Reyes Martinez nearly collided with several other vehicles, but Southampton cops spotted him and pulled him over, authorities said. During the investigation, officers learned Reyes Martinez’s license was fake, according to police.

Two people were busted for drug possession during a targeted operation on Long Island on Tuesday night, July 21, police said.
Antony Perry, 58, and Lashana Wright, 46, were arrested near Stewart Avenue and Merchants Concourse in East Garden City around 11 p.m., the Nassau County Police Department said.
County police were on “intensified patrol” in the area near Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for vehicle and traffic enforcement, according to authorities. Perry was also charged with unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

A Long Island man stole another person’s identity, opened a bank account, and swiped $5,000 earlier this year, police said.
Justin Kopperl, 28, of Holtsville, used the money to rent cars, deposit false checks, and send money through CashApp, the Suffolk County Police Department said Monday, July 20. The victim in the case had lost their wallet prior to the fraud, according to investigators.
The victim, a Bay Shore man, contacted police on May 6 after realizing a bank account had been opened in his name without his knowledge, cops said. Authorities traced the activity to Kopperl.

A Long Island contractor was arrested after police say he accepted payment for home renovations but stopped work before the project was finished, leaving a Stony Brook homeowner without the services she paid for, Suffolk County Police said in a release issued Monday, July 20.
The woman hired M3 Development Group Inc. on Jan. 8, 2026, to complete improvements to her Stony Brook home, police said. The contractor, identified as Michael Specchio, completed only part of the renovations before abandoning the job, according to investigators.
