Overturned Dump Truck Shuts Route 18
A dump truck overturned on Route 18 South in Monmouth County, shutting down the road during morning rush hour, authorities said. The NJDOT said it happened in Marlboro south of exit 30 and Route 9 at around 8:11 a.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 12. The dump truck spilled what appeared to be small rocks in a picture posted on Facebook by the Marlboro Township Police Department. All southbound lanes of Route 18 were closed for "an extended period of time" near Tennent Road, Marlboro police said. A tractor-trailer has overturned initially closing all lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike near its interchange with the Garden State Parkway, authorities said. The crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 7 on the outer roadway northbound near the exit ramp to Interchange 11, according to 511nj.org. Two of three lanes had reopened as of 2:30 p.m., according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. The shoulder and one left lane remained blocked. Check back for updates.

An important bridge for many Monmouth County drivers will be closed for several months due to repairs, officials said. The state Department of Transportation (NJDOT) said the Route 71 drawbridge over the Shark River had a mechanical failure on Friday, Mar. 1 that caused "significant damage to the machinery of the North Bridge leaf." Structural evaluation and drawbridge engineering teams said the bridge is safe for vehicles traveling between Belmar and Avon-by-the-Sea. Police have identified the driver killed in a Route 1 in New Brunswick early Wednesday, March .6 Dennis Frick, 65, of Freehold, was in a Ford pickup truck when he was struck by an Infiniti around 7:45 a.m. near the Morris Goodkind Bridge, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and New Brunswick Police Chief Vincent Frick was pronounced at the scene.
