CT Teen Extradited From PA, Charged With Fatal Shooting Outside Restaurant: Cops
A teenager accused in a deadly shooting outside of a restaurant is back in Connecticut after being captured in Pennsylvania following a two-year investigation and manhunt, authorities said.
Desire Aitken, 19, of Waterbury, was arrested in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, on April 10, police said. She was extradited to Waterbury last week, where officers served her arrest warrant.
The case stems from a Jan. 30, 2024, killing near the former Bertie's West Indian & American Restaurant on North Main Street, Waterbury.

A fired delivery driver is accused of slashing tires on nearly 30 Amazon delivery vehicles, stealing key fobs, and trying to hide evidence in a river, authorities said.
Anthony Gillio of Cape Coral, Florida, was arrested on Friday, May 1, the Lee County Sheriff's Office said. The 22-year-old was charged with grand theft of between $5,000 and $10,000, two counts of criminal mischief, and tampering with evidence.

A Connecticut personal care assistant who billed Medicaid for hundreds of days she didn't work will avoid prison, but she will still face penalties.
Carmen Berroa, 61, of Waterbury, was sentenced to 11 months in prison, execution suspended, with two years of conditional discharge, the state's Division of Criminal Justice said. She must also repay $13,153.59 in restitution and is now barred from working as a Medicaid provider.
